1. Our commitment
We are committed to making Snowcone usable by people with the widest range of abilities. We design, build, and test our consumer surfaces against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA, and we operate a written compliance program that combines automated tooling, manual screen-reader testing, periodic third-party audit, and a public registry of issues we are working through.
2. Conformance target
Our conformance target is WCAG 2.2 Level AA across the Snowcone consumer surfaces (the marketplace, product detail pages, design tools, cart, checkout, account, and review flows). We selectively meet some Level AAA criteria where they do not conflict with product requirements; we do not claim Level AAA conformance overall.
3. Conformance status
The Snowcone consumer surfaces are partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. The primary known limitation is in the artwork canvas — the editor used to create custom designs — where the current version ships a fallback DOM stub for assistive-technology users. AT users can perceive what is on the canvas but cannot manipulate it directly with a keyboard or screen reader. We are working on a full keyboard-and-screen-reader model for the canvas as a published roadmap commitment (90 days post-launch). All other consumer surfaces are designed and tested against Level AA.
See section 6 below for a current summary of known issues and how we track them.
4. Standards we test against
Our primary conformance reference is WCAG 2.2 Level AA (W3C) — the global baseline. We additionally treat as authoritative:
- EN 301 549 v3.2.1 — the EU harmonized standard cited under the European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882) and the Web Accessibility Directive.
- Section 508 Refresh (29 CFR Part 1194) — US federal procurement reference.
- Equivalent national accessibility standards in your country — the German BFSG, French RGAA, Italian Stanca Law, Spanish RD 1112/2018, the UK Equality Act 2010, the US ADA Title III (consistent with Robles v. Domino's Pizza, LLC, 913 F.3d 898 (9th Cir. 2019)), the Accessible Canada Act and AODA, and other comparable national frameworks. Where your country's national standard imposes a stricter rule than WCAG 2.2 AA, the stricter rule controls.
5. How we test
We use a five-layer accessibility testing program:
- Write-time — strict
eslint-plugin-jsx-a11yrules plus a custom rule that prevents engineers from re-rolling unaccessible primitives. - Dev runtime —
@axe-core/reactruns in every developer's browser during local development. - Component testing — Storybook with the official accessibility addon runs axe on every component variant on every commit.
- End-to-end testing — Playwright with
@axe-core/playwrightcovers the marketplace, product detail, cart, checkout, account, account-deletion, review-submission, and anonymous-shopper flows. - Nightly crawl —
@axe-core/cliruns against staging and commits a summarised violation report to the repository.
We also run manual assistive-technology testing on macOS VoiceOver, iOS VoiceOver, and NVDA on Windows, and we commission an annual third-party audit from a recognised accessibility firm.
6. Known issues
The most significant known issues at the effective date below are:
- Canvas direct manipulation by AT users. The design canvas exposes a fallback DOM stub that lets assistive-technology users perceive what is on the canvas, but does not yet support direct keyboard or screen-reader manipulation. Affected pages: the design editor entry points on product detail pages and the design studio. Workaround: we can complete a custom-design order on your behalf — see section 8 below.
A live summary of issues, scored by severity, is maintained in our engineering repository and reviewed at least quarterly. Aggregate counts of open issues are published with each effective-date update of this Statement.
7. How to report a barrier
If you encounter a page or feature that does not work for you, please tell us. We aim to acknowledge within 5 business days and to follow up with a remediation plan or a workaround.
- Email: accessibility@snowcone.app.
- What helps us help you: the page URL where you got stuck, the assistive technology you were using (browser + OS + screen reader version), and a short description of what did not work.
8. Alternative ways to use the Service
If you are unable to complete a purchase, design a custom product, or use any feature of the Service because of an accessibility barrier, we will help you complete the task by email, phone, or video call at no extra cost. Email accessibility@snowcone.app and a member of our team will work with you to place the order or use the feature.
9. If you are not satisfied with our response
You can escalate to a national enforcement body. The list below names the bodies most relevant to the markets we operate in.
- European Union member states — each member state designates a national enforcement body under the EAA / WAD. A directory is maintained by the European Commission at commission.europa.eu/disability.
- United Kingdom — Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC): equalityhumanrights.com.
- United States — Disability Rights Section, Civil Rights Division, U.S. Department of Justice: ada.gov.
- Canada — Accessibility Commissioner of Canada: accessibilitychrc.ca; for Ontario, the AODA administration.
- Mexico — Consejo Nacional para Prevenir la Discriminación (CONAPRED): conapred.org.mx.
10. Preparation of this statement
This statement was prepared on 2026-05-04 by the Snowcone engineering and legal teams, based on (a) automated testing across the five-layer harness described in section 5, (b) manual assistive-technology testing by Snowcone staff, and (c) the internal issue registry. The first independent third-party audit is scheduled within four to six months after public launch. This statement is reviewed at least annually and re-stamped after every material change to the Service.
11. Document version
Version, change kind, and effective date appear at the top of this page. The last team review was 2026-05-04. This statement is also surfaced from the footer of every consumer page.
